Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: New details revealed!

Harry Potter fans rejoice! J K Rowling is bringing us a brand new spin-off. Details have already started to creep through the floorboards regarding J K Rowling’s ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them’. Pictures have also been released via Entertainment Weekly!

Images that have been released show Eddie Redmayne as ‘Newt Scamander’, the wizard who writes the (Harry Potter) textbook – Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The book consists of a collection of examinations of 85 magical species of creatures found on different continents. It also contains the history of Magizoology… yes you read that right… Magizoology. In the Harry Potter universe, the first edition of the magical book was published in 1927, after the events of this film.

J K Rowling is taking the reins this time and writing directly for the screen. This is officially her first screenplay instead of placing responsibility on that of writers like Steve Kloves (writer of seven of the eight Harry Potter films) or Michael Gondenberg (Writer of Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix).

The film will take on a rather american feel as the English based Newt Scamander travels to New York and is subjected to the many magical beasts lurking in its depths. Different magical terminology will be introduced with “Muggles” being called “No-Maj” as well as the introduction of a more adult cast, including Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol and Katherine Waterston.

The Studio where the Harry Potter films were originally made have been turned into the styles and atmosphere of a 1926 New York for the filming of the first of three movies in the new Franchise. Are you guys excited for the return of wizards and witches to the big screen!? We certainly are!
