Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Where is Luke Skywalker??

The new Star Wars film is nearly upon us with many fans prepping their lightsabers and brushing up on their Jedi lore for the big release of Episode VII, “The Force Awakens”. The new film is set to hit the big screen on December 18 this year. One question that has been floating around the fans is the absence of a certain Jedi going by the name of Luke Skywalker. You know? The main guy? The farm boy on Tatooine who became one of the greatest Jedi the galaxy has ever known? Ring any bells?

The director of Star Wars, JJ Abrams, has said it is “no accident” that the famous Jedi has not appeared in the trailers or the final poster. This adds an element of excitement seeing as all the other iconic characters from the previous films are present including Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher). The only reference that we have of Skywalker is a quick snippet of a hooded Luke as well as a voice over in the teaser trailer.

Fans have gone gaga with theories and assumptions. From being turned into a Sith lord, to being held by dark Sith forces, to even just simply meditating in his Jedi temple. The whereabouts of our hero are unknown.

All these theories pale in comparison to the one overarching possibility that JJ Abrams is just really really good at keeping a secret. He has a knack for building up the suspense and keeping the news out of crucial plot points. If anything, it is good that there are no spoilers in the wake of the new movie. One thing is for sure, we’ll all be clued in when Star Wars “The Force Awakens” is released on the 18th of December this year.
